Toaster Sweaters

I have joined the sewists who are hooked on the Sew House 7 patterns for two toaster sweaters. Search the internet - particularly instagram for #toastersweater  and you will find over a thousand pictures of toasters in all types of stretch fabrics.

I was attracted to version 1 ( #toastersweater1 ) which has raglan sleeves, funnel neck, deep cuffs and welt bands. I was not attracted, however, by the price of the pattern. Finally I succumbed and paid £17.90 for the printed pattern from Dragonfly Fabrics. The pattern is available from other outlets.  It is also available in pdf form but I'm not a fan of printing and sticking pieces of A4 together plus trying to store them neatly.

Well for me, the pattern is proving well worth the price I paid as I have made five sweaters in quick succession using fabrics already in my stash. I'm looking forward to making more and I'm enjoying viewing the many examples on the internet.

Update: I made a toasters in dusky blue for me and one in pink/purple  for one of my daughters then I asked my daughter if she would like a Sewhouse 7 Toaster in Christmas fabric.

She chose  french terry "Frosted Forest" from Amy Elizabeth Fabrics. My choice would have been "Little Pud"  but I am pleased with the results. As my daughter points out - she can wear it for the whole of December. The fabric was a delight to sew and it washes really well.
